How much does an EPC cost?

How long is an EPC valid for?
An EPC is valid for 10 years from the date it is issued. You only need a new one when the current certificate expires, or sooner if you make significant energy-efficiency changes.
When do I legally need an EPC?
You need a valid EPC when a property is built, sold, or let. For lettings it must be available to prospective tenants before they sign a tenancy agreement.
What is the minimum EPC rating to rent out a property?
In England and Wales the current minimum to let a property is band E, unless a valid exemption is registered. The government has confirmed it intends to raise this to band C by 1 October 2030, though that legislation is not yet in force.
How long does an EPC assessment take?
A typical domestic assessment takes around 20 to 60 minutes depending on the size and type of property. The certificate is usually issued shortly afterwards.
